New to veganism? Or an old vegan in need of super lazy but nutritious breakfast ideas? You can count on this creamy beauty to help you feel energised in the morning and stop your cravings for chocolate in the evening (or at least I feel it helps me to not eat chocolate in the evening...).
Lately, I had some really nice messages from some of you on Instagram asking me about veganism. Where to find necessary resources, both in order to find out more about how the animals are treated, how the meat and dairy industry affects the environment badly and us humans, and also where to start out food-wise were some of those questions. So I am working on some resources that are hopefully gonna be up on my website soon that you can download. In the meantime, I thought I want to ease your way into a vegan life with a new breakfast recipe that I created. I've lately learnt that porridge topped off with a wee bit of milk makes is so much creamier. And I've been loving that mashed banana in my oats. It adds to the creaminess and sweetness, as well as that delicious warm smell. As long as your banana is ripe, your porridge will smell (and taste) just like cake! And who doesn't like cake in the morning?
Porridge is the healthier cake. It is one of the healthiest foods to eat in the morning. Oats are very nutritious and filling. They are packed with vitamins and count amongst the healthiest grains that you can get. How can you go wrong with both healthy and indulgent all in one? You simply can't.

Creamy Vegan Nutella Porridge
This oatmeal is perfect for cold winter mornings or whenever you're craving a nutella flavoured dessert.
Course: Breakfast / Dessert
Servings: 1 bowl

Prep Time: 20 min
Ingredients for 1 bowl
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/2 Cup Oats
1/2 Banana, Mashed
4-6 Chopped Hazelnuts
2 Pieces Chopped Chocolate
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Other 1/2 Banana, Chopped
1. Add your oats and mashed banana to a pan with enough plantbased milk to cover everything and add the cocoa powder, salt, cinnamon, chocolate, hazelnuts and maple syrup. Stir when it starts to get warm to prevent it from burning and add more liquid as needed until you have a creamy oatmeal.*
3. Now you can decorate your porridge with toppings.
5. And voila, your extra creamy vegan Nutella porridge is ready to be enjoyed. If you want to make 2 bowls simply double everything.
*I add a splash of extra milk at the end when the oats are cooked for extra creaminess. :)
